“If there is one secret to success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see thing from that person’s angle as well as from your own.” – Henry Ford
Turtle is learning, but sometimes you need to actually talk to someone to find out what they want. Then it’s as easy as helping them get it! This tip can work in all sorts of relationships – not just dating. I use it every time I apply for a job… I scour the job posting and figure out exactly what they are looking for. Then I edit my resume (and cover letter) to be the exact person on the planet that they want.
How about friendships? Talk to them, find out what they want, and then help them get it! Recently a fellow I met wanted to try making a comic… so I wrote a script for him. Together we created something awesome and became buddies.
What about in your current job? What does your boss want? Be the guy who gets it for him! Maybe you’ve got a difficult business contact – talk to them, find out what they lack. Maybe you can fill in the gap for them.
It seems so simple when you lay it out, doesn’t it?
Dale Carnegie’s ‘How To Win Friends And Influence People‘ literally changed my life. It taught me how to talk to others and appreciate them as people. I’m hoping he can do the same for Turtle and maybe some other people out there!
