After a few hours I’ve come up with a personal tagline:
“I make stuff to explore how to live a more meaningful life.”
The word stuff probably isn’t ideal, but it’s a work in progress. Plus, I’m not sure that everything I make can be called art. I’d rather keep it a little vague for now.
This is all motivated from a marketing and selling book, “Book Yourself Solid” by Michael Port. I’m working on developing my storytelling workshops into a bigger offering and this book is guiding me along the process. So far the tagline for that is:
“I help people uncover meaning in their lives through the power of storytelling. I also encourage connection by empowering people to embrace their “why” and share stories with authenticity.”
It’s a bit wordy, but it sums up the workshops pretty well. This book is great. I’m only on chapter 3, but I’m already expanding on the exercises to include my entire life — the business feels small now. It also helps that I’m using ChatGPT to reflect on my answers. It has provided some interesting insight and suggestions I wouldn’t have come up with on my own.
My hope is that I’ll find a way to be useful and creative, while also making money. The ultimate goal of all artists!
